Earlobe Correction

At the MySkyn clinic, Professor Al-Ghazari restores the natural appearance of stretched and split earlobes with a minor surgical procedure performed under local anaesthetic.

Earlobes are easily stretched or split when wearing heavy earrings, particularly stretcher piercings that create open tunnels in the lobe.

Other patients come to us after their earlobes have been damaged in accidents or during sports.

Whatever the cause of the damage, we can offer safe and speedy earlobe correction with minimal downtime.

Earlobe repair from stretched piercing

What Is Earlobe Correction?

This minor surgical procedure restores the natural appearance of the earlobe by:

  • Repairing splits, oversized piercings or tears and restoring the original shape of the earlobe
  • Reducing the size of the earlobe that has been overstretched by heavy jewellery

After this procedure, your earlobes will be restored to an aesthetically pleasing size and shape.

Why Choose Earlobe Correction?

Our patients choose to have earlobe correction for a variety of reasons.

  • They are self-conscious about their ears and want to improve their appearance.
  • The damage to their ear lobes prevents them from wearing the ear jewellery of their choice.
  • The split and stretched lobes are often caught on hairbrushes or clothing, causing further trauma and potential infection.

Ear lobe correction at MYSkyn clinic is a safe and effective solution for all these issues.

The Treatment Process

The earlobe correction process has three stages:

Your consultation

Professor Al-Ghazal will assess the damage to your earlobe and decide if you are a good candidate for earlobe correction.

He will explain in detail the minor surgery you will require and what to expect during the recovery period.

Professor Al-Ghazal will also confirm the cost of your bespoke procedure at this consultation.

The procedure

Ear lobe removal can be achieved in several ways, with the most popular being:

  • Direct closure by repairing minor splits with  sutures
  • Flap reconstruction for more extensive damage

This minor procedure will be performed by Professor Al-Ghazal at our state-of-the-art clinic, using a local anaesthetic.

Recovery from earlobe correction is usually swift and complication-free. You can expect the treatment site to heal after a couple of weeks.

You will be given detailed aftercare instructions and invited to make a follow-up appointment for Professor Al-Ghazal to check that your lobe has healed.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Your procedure will be performed by Professor Al-Ghazal at the MySkyn clinic, using its excellent facilities for minor surgery.

Professor Al-Ghazal will explain the procedure to you again and then begin.

  • The earlobe will be numbed with a local anaesthetic.
  • Your earlobe will be restored by removing excess skin and trimming the remaining tissue to create a pleasing shape.
  • The incisions will be sutured to promote healing and minimise scarring.

Our experienced minor surgery team will ensure that you remain relaxed and comfortable throughout your earlobe correction procedure.

Aftercare and Recovery

A few postoperative precautions will ensure rapid healing.

We give detailed aftercare instructions to our patients, including the following:

  • Leave any dressings in place for the required time period
  • Keep the dressing clean and dry
  • Once the dressing is removed, refrain from touching your earlobe
  • Avoid vigorous activity that may strain or damage the sutures
  • Use simple pain relief as required
  • Attend follow-up appointments when invited

Most patients feel well enough to return to their normal activities straightaway after their earlobe correction.
