Facial Laser Hair Removal

Facial Hair Removal Bradford

Facial hair can be distressing so it’s no surprise that laser hair removal on the face is an extremely popular treatment at our Bradford clinic.

Patients want to find a more manageable way to maintain the hair growth on the face than waxing, threading and shaving and having the hair treated with a medical-grade laser, is a safe and effective method of stopping the hair follicles from growing new hairs.

How does facial laser hair removal work?

You will have a detailed consultation with one of our laser experts to establish what sort of facial hair you are experiencing. It is important to explore if you have any causes of excessive hair growth. For example, hormonal, poly-cystic ovarian syndrome or medication-induced. Then to ensure you understand the results that laser treatment can achieve.

You will be given a list of ‘do’s and don’ts’ whilst you are in the laser course.

A patch test is done to ensure that your skin will tolerate the laser safely.

The patch test may be carried out on different areas of the face as even the face can have a few areas where it differs in colour.

7 days later you are able to book in for your first treatment.

Facial hair laser treatment on average takes approximately 15 minutes to conduct.

After the treatment we will apply aloe Vera gel and sunscreen and book you for your next treatment in approximately  4 weeks time.

Is it painful?

The treatment is relatively pain-free. We have a cryo-cooler attached to the laser which makes the laser feel more comfortable. Also as the treatment is relatively quick due to the latest technology of the laser, this helps reduce any discomfort.

The skin on the face is often more sensitive than the body, so it can be a little red and tender for 24-48 hours after treatment. Sometimes the skin can have some red bumps which usually settle in around an hour. Patients often say it can feel like mild sunburn.

Does facial laser treatment work?

In most cases, there is successful removal of facial hair and reduction by 70-90%. Also, the hair that does return is often finer and less noticeable.

However, it is important to remember that laser hair removal is not a permanent solution.

After the first treatment, many people will be hair-free for a few months but will still require ongoing treatments to help ensure that all the hairs on the face are caught by the laser when they are in the growth phase.  Laser treatments will delay hair growth and subsequent growth will be lighter and finer.

Usually, a minimum of 8 treatments will be needed on the face but this can very much depend on the individual – your progress will be monitored throughout your course.

As the course progresses some of the hair may stop growing completely, however as this is not a permanent solution, the majority of clients will need to have a top-up single session approximately 6-12 months after completing a facial laser course. When compared to having to shave or wax/thread every week the benefits of laser can be clearly seen.

Does it matter what laser is used?

It can be hard to choose the right clinic and right laser with so many different lasers in the market currently.

It is important to choose a reliable and well experienced clinic will be able to explain to you the difference in lasers and their limitations.

Also it is important to know that not all lasers are designed to be able to achieve results on facial hair which can be thick but also have areas where it is very fine.

Unfortunately a laser that’s not got the correct wavelengths and power (backed by scientific evidence) to treat this facial hair and have significant results in its reduction can actually cause more problems for clients.

As a medical clinic we have first-hand experience of patients coming to us for advice after being treated with lasers which have stimulated excess hair on their face and they have not achieved a satisfactory level of hair reduction even after completing several courses and being thousands of pounds out of pocket.

As a CQC registered clinic we practice to high standards and have the latest medical grade laser to treat facial hair in all skin types. Our laser team has over 20 years of combined experience specifically in using lasers to treat facial hair.

We will always be ethical in pricing and wont charge excessive amounts for top-ups after your course.

Most importantly MySkyn Clinic takes safety as its utmost priority and with the  current Covid-19 pandemic, safe treatments with all the required PPE  and guidelines in place is vital.
