Skin pigmentation is a condition that is often caused by damage to the skin and can be treated at the Bradford MySkyn Clinic.
Pigmentation results in dark or light patches appearing on the skin surface and can have a large effect on people’s self-esteem.
If you are looking for ways to balance your skin tone, MySkyn offers both non-invasive and minor surgical treatment options dependant on the cause of your pigmentation.
No matter your skin tone, you will be able to discuss your options at length with one of our professionals during a detailed consultation.
Please phone 01274 921121 or get in touch online for more information.
What Causes Skin Pigmentation?
Melanin is the pigment in the body that affects your skin, hair and eye colour. The more melanin you have in your skin, the darker your skin tone.
Pigmentation as a skin condition occurs when there is an imbalance of melanin in the skin.
The production of excess melanin due to skin cell damage can lead to hyper-pigmentation and dark patches on the skin. When melanin production is reduced, this can lead to hypo-pigmentation, where the skin turns lighter.
Common signs of skin pigmentation are the appearance of melasma, freckles, sunspots and Post Inflammatory Hyper-pigmentation (PIH). Acne, sun damage and dermatitis can all cause PIH.
