Bradford MySkyn Clinic offers Rosacea treatment in the form of laser skin resurfacing or targeted skin products.
Often beginning with episodes of flushing, Rosacea can develop into an uncomfortable skin condition that causes long-term discomfort for many people.
Unfortunately there is no cure for Rosacea, but there are ways of making this long-term skin condition more bearable.
To take the first steps towards alleviating your symptoms of Rosacea, please phone our Bradford clinic on 01274 921121 or get in touch online.
What causes Rosacea?
Scientists are not certain what causes Rosacea; many factors could contribute to an individual developing the condition.
If a person has Rosacea, the blood vessels in the skin on their face enlarge, or dilate. This is what causes the characteristic redness of the skin.
Antibiotics have been effective at treating Rosacea, but this is due to their anti-inflammatory effect. Rosacea is not proved to be related to bacteria on the skin and is not contagious.
Things that may worsen symptoms of Rosacea include alcohol, exercise, high and low temperatures, hot drinks, spicy foods, stress, and direct sunlight.
Rosacea is a long-term condition and can fluctuate from mild to severe during a person’s lifetime.
Common Symptoms of Rosacea
Rosacea usually occurs on the cheeks, forehead, chin or nose. It may cause:
- Permanent redness or blushing
- Broken blood vessels on the skin surface
- Spots and pus-filled pimples
- Thick skin on the nose or swelling around the eyes
- Burning and stinging sensations
- Red and irritated eyes and eyelids
Rosacea has the potential to be quite serious in some cases. If you experience spontaneous bleeding on the skin surface, blurred vision, and red or gritty eyes, it is important that you consult a medical professional or optician right away.
Rosacea Treatment at MySkyn Bradford
A detailed consultation with our doctor should determine which treatment is most suitable for your type of Rosacea. You may be offered one of the following:
Laser Skin Resurfacing
The Bradford MySkyn Clinic uses a Thunder MT laser to penetrate below the skin surface, deliberately causing controlled trauma to accelerate collagen production and the natural healing process of the skin.
This is a day case treatment that may use general anaesthetic depending on the strength of laser required. Redness may occur as a side-effect and could take several months to fully disappear; but, afterwards, you should see a remarkable reduction in the symptoms of Rosacea.
Skin Care Products
The skin care range that we use for Rosacea treatment is called La Roche-Posay. These products are affordable and proven in their results. They can be targeted towards specific skin conditions, including acne and Rosacea, making them effective at individualised treatment.
