Profhilo treatment, as offered by MySkyn Clinic in Bradford, is a revolutionary skin boosting injection designed for patients with ageing skin tone.

The formula contains hyaluronic acid, but it has a different effect on the skin to traditional dermal fillers and other injectables.

Profhilo acts as a kind of injectable moisturiser, creating naturally youthful results rather than remodelling the facial structure. It works on a molecular level to stimulate natural collagen production and provide hydration beneath the skin surface.

It is able to improve skin tone and texture by making it plumper, tighter, smoother and more supple. Say goodbye to wrinkles, sagging skin and skin laxity. Profhilo delivers great results through its innovative formula, enhancing skin quality and restoring radiance.

What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is an injectable treatment that uses highly concentrated, highly purified hyaluronic acid – the highest concentrations of any injectable, in fact.

Hyaluronic acid is a vital component of many aesthetic treatments. It is a substance that is naturally used by the body to hold water in the skin tissue and is responsible for the youthful plumpness of the skin. It is also essential for stimulating collagen and elastin production.

For the best results, Profhilo can be used to treat ageing skin in patients with low levels of collagen and hyaluronic acid. It is a slow release formula that provides hydration deep below the skin surface.

How is Profhilo different to dermal fillers?

Profhilo is sometimes referred to as a skin booster and it works in a very different way to dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections.

Dermal fillers consist of a chemically compounded gel, where as Profhilo is a thermally bonded treatment that is less viscous and more fluid. This means that it is able to spread out within a 2cm radius of the injection site, naturally attracting water molecules and hydrating the skin.

Instead of contouring and sculpting like dermal fillers, this treatment restores natural skin texture and rejuvenates the complexion to its youthful state.

Who is Profhilo for?

Profhilo injections are suitable for both men and women. It is designed for those wishing to eliminate sagging tissue, wrinkles, and other signs of ageing. This can include anyone over the age of 30 – the age at which the body begins to produce less hyaluronic acid, causing the skin to lose plumpness and quality.

Profhilo creates more natural results than dermal fillers and is not suitable for replacing lost volume or reshaping facial features.

Book a consultation with Dr Uzma to discuss whether Profhilo could achieve your desired outcomes and how many treatments you may need.

Where can Profhilo be used?

Hyaluronic acid naturally occurs in the skin anywhere on the body. Common areas where Profhilo can be injected to treat skin laxity include:

  • The face and neck
  • The décolletage
  • The hands
  • The arms
  • The abdominal area

How does Profhilo work?

Due to the 2cm radius of Profhilo around the injection site, a full facial treatment can be administered in just 10 injections (5 per side of the face). The injections target crucial bio aesthetic points around the face that ensure optimal distribution and absorption of the slow release formula.

Profhilo spreads under the skin surface and can reach deep into the dermal tissues. The hyaluronic acid within the formula is hydrophilic, meaning that it bonds with water molecules, retaining water in the skin tissues and hydrating the skin.

The hyaluronic acid also triggers the natural production of collagen and elastin in the skin; an effect that lasts for months, sustaining results of the treatment. These proteins increase skin elasticity and firmness, which reduces sagging and loose skin texture.

The formula will be broken down by the body after roughly 28 days, but the results will continue to improve.

What happens during a Profhilo treatment at MySkyn, Bradford?

At our Bradford clinic, Profhilo is usually carried out across two sessions, with an interval of four weeks in between. This interval gives the body time to heal and begin the process of cellular renewal before the second boost of treatment is administered.

During the procedure, your clinician will clean the treatment area and numb the skin with a local anaesthetic cream. Profhilo is unique in its ability to spread within the skin, meaning that you will have as few injection sites as possible.

The injection itself should not be painful. Each injection takes only seconds to perform and will need to be repeated at the second treatment session.

How long does Profhilo last?

Results of Profhilo will differ from patient to patient. It takes roughly four weeks following your second appointment to see significant improvement. For most patients, skin firmness and elasticity will be improved for up to 6 months. At this point, you may wish to consider maintenance treatments at 3-6 month intervals for long-lasting effects.

What happens after a Profhilo treatment?

For the very best results, aftercare is an important stage in any aesthetic treatment. After Profhilo is administered, it is recommended that you keep hydrated as much as possible. You won’t want to wear make-up, use saunas, or take a hot shower for up to 48 hours post-procedure. Similarly, sun exposure should be avoided. If you take part in an activity that makes you sweat within 24 hours of treatment, the risk of a bacterial infection is increased.

What are the side effects and risks of Profhilo?

Profhilo is a well-trialled treatment that has been administered to millions of patients worldwide.

There are no serious side effects, but minor bruising and swelling at the injection sites is expected. This should subside within around 24 hours.

Groups of people for whom the treatment is not suitable include: those who are allergic to hyaluronic acid; those with blood disorders or immunodeficiency; pregnant or breastfeeding women; and those with active skin infections.
