How Do Dermal Fillers Work?
Dermal fillers work by injecting a hyaluronic acid based solution into the skin.
Hyaluronic acid is naturally produced by the body, and is involved in the chemical and biological processes that give our skin its firm and flexible structure. As we age, the production of hyaluronic acid in the body decreases, and skin consequently begins to lose its firmness, causing it to sag and wrinkle.
Dermal fillers replenish the skin with this natural substance to regain its elasticity, but their effect is not permanent. After a period of roughly 18 months – dependant on varying factors – a new dose of dermal fillers will be necessary to maintain the results.
The injection is quick and each appointment should take approximately thirty minutes. A local anaesthetic will be used to make the experience as painless as possible, although it is usual to experience mild discomfort and swelling for up to 48 hours after the procedure. Results are immediate but can take up to four weeks for maximum effect. Otherwise, dermal filler treatment is as easy as that. No more fuss than getting a vaccination.
Available Treatments
Dermal fillers can be used to treat multiple conditions. You can change your entire appearance without the need for surgery with these simple treatments. Here are just a few examples of their use:
- Erase scars
- Reduce tear troughs/eye circles
- Augment the lips
- Enhance the cheekbones
- Remodel the chin and jaw
- Reshape the nose
- Remove laughter lines (nasolabial furrows)
- Raise mouth corners
You also have the option to combine treatments. This way, you can tackle multiple signs of aging at once, and contour the face for an overall balanced appearance.
Feel free to book a free consultation to talk through these procedures in more detail and discover which one is right for you.
